Gateway Diner has been Albany's “Hometown” Diner since 1971. The prefab structure was built, transported and constructed on site at the current location by DeRaffele Manufacturing of New Rochelle, NY. Located on the busy commercial section of Central Avenue, the Gateway is just a short car or bus ride from anywhere in the Capital District!
In 1987 Mr. Dino Damascos “Big D” purchased the property and the Gateway underwent major renovations. Twenty years went by and Dino decided once again to give the Diner an updated face-lift. So in 2007 after completing the project, Dino had invested nearly $1,000,000 dollars. Renovations included an updated private banquet room for up to 60 people, additional booths and tables and a double counter complete with a full service bar. The neon sign on the front entrance can be seen a mile down Central Avenue.
The Gateway is still family owned and operated by Dino's niece and nephew, Ms. Melissa Verrigni and Mr. Jimmy Geanopoulos. They pride themselves in providing a clean, relaxed and family friendly atmosphere with home-town cooking and delicious homemade desserts, all at affordable prices.
Stop in and join us for breakfast (served anytime), lunch, dinner, or maybe just dessert and coffee!
